Build: the foundations a senior engineer would insist on, with questions for your developer

You know the customer. The build's a black box.

A market founder knows who buys, what they pay and why. The prompt into Lovable, or the brief to a developer, carries the what and leaves out the why.

The agent fills the gaps with defaults. At every release, nobody can say what's built, which version is live, or what just became public. MindBacklog writes the words a senior engineer would use, from your answers and your users' evidence.

The loop

From plain answers to specs they can build from.

Each step is a place in the app. You answer in your words; Mind drafts; nothing is written into your product without your yes.

  1. Build · Plan

    The foundations, before you build

Plans the foundations a senior engineer would insist on, from your answers, with every item's reason and source.

  2. Build · Features

    The spec interview

Mind writes the spec and the stories from your answers to seven plain questions.

  3. Build · Stories

    Ready means it has criteria

A story is Ready only when it has acceptance criteria, so the agent or developer knows what done looks like.

  4. Build · Build Pack

    One pack per feature

Copy it for Claude Code or Cursor, paste a short prompt into Lovable, or let your agent pull it over MCP.

  5. Build · Publish check

    Before you publish

What changed since last time, from your GitHub commit titles, and what each changed feature makes public according to its spec.

Build › Plan in detail

Build Pack

Short prompt for Lovable. Full pack for a developer.

Your coding agent pulls the Build Pack: why it matters, who it's for, the metric, and the must-haves with acceptance criteria. For Lovable, the short prompt fits in under 180 words.

  • Why it exists, in one line, from the PRD or the problem it answers.
  • Who it's for, the device and accessibility notes, from your Who it's for profile.
  • What's already broken: the feature's open bugs by key, title and status.

Product map

Know what's built, in words you'd use.

Each capability on the map shows Live, Partly live, In progress, Scoped or Idea. Area health shows where users complain.

Your agent keeps it current when it reports a build; moving a feature to shipped is your call. Your coding agent writes the product map. MindBacklog never reads your code.

  • What leaves your workspace

A Build Pack never carries a customer's name, email, company, plan or revenue. Quotes go out labelled by channel only, with names, companies and contact details taken out.

  • What we draft, you send

We draft, you send. The questions for your developer, the invites, the notes to people who asked: each opens in your own email.

Questions

Questions market founders ask

Something else? Search the help center or email us.

Does it work with Lovable?

Yes. Paste the Build Pack's short prompt into Lovable: under 180 words, with the must-haves, the done-when and the security lines.

Do I need to know how to code?

No. Build › Plan asks about ten plain questions about your product and drafts the plan by rule. The spec interview asks seven plain questions and Mind writes the spec and the stories from your answers.

What does my developer get?

The plan's questions to send them, with Copy all. Stories with acceptance criteria they can tick. A Build Pack for each feature that says why it matters, who it's for, the metric, the must-haves and what already exists. Every section names its source.

Does the publish check read my code?

No. It lists what changed since last time from your GitHub commit titles, and what each changed feature makes public according to its spec. The check says plainly that it can't tell whether code works or is safe.

How much of this uses AI credits?

The plan from rules is free: no AI call. Tailoring it to your own features uses AI credits, and so does the spec interview's writing step. Copying a Build Pack costs nothing. On Growth and Scale, credits for the actions you start are included.

Be the founder whose coding agent knows why.
