Platform Overview

What Is MindBacklog?

MindBacklog is a Product Intelligence Platform that supports your entire product lifecycle from concept to launch to growth. It helps you collect customer feedback, prioritize features, build roadmaps, and track development — all with AI assistance that understands your specific product context.

The platform is organized around a clear workflow: Collect signals from customers → Refine them into actionable ideas → Plan your roadmap → Track execution through stories and bugs.

💡
Key Concept

The more you use MindBacklog, the smarter it gets. The AI learns from your product context, customer signals, and decisions — compounding intelligence over time.

The main navigation sidebar on the left side of the screen provides access to all core areas. Here's what each item does:

Dashboard

📊 Your At-a-Glance Summary

Key metrics, daily AI brief, pipeline stats, trending themes, and quick actions. This is your daily starting point.

Ask Mind

💬 AI Conversational Assistant

Chat with an AI that understands your product. Available both as a dedicated /chat page (left sidebar) AND as a persistent side panel reachable from the dark "Ask Mind" tab on the top-right of every page (shortcut: ⌘. / Ctrl+.). The side panel is page-aware — it shows a context pill for whatever you're looking at, so you can ask "summarize this" naturally.

Intelligence Hub

🧠 Signal Triage & AI-Drafted Insights

Where all customer feedback lands — app reviews, emails, web form submissions, and more. AI classifies each signal, then the nightly clustering worker drafts related signals into Insights: distilled, actionable briefs ready for triage. Each Insight is typed (Feature Proposal / Change Request / Strategic Signal / Ops Awareness) so the right terminal action is one click away. A Trending tab ranks themes by volume or growth so you can see what's getting louder week over week.

Competitive Intelligence

🎯 Gap Matrix & Market Signals

One page that consolidates everything your tracked competitors are doing — capability gap matrix, market-signal feed, and per-competitor drill-downs. This is also where new users land after onboarding so you can see immediate value from your context setup.

Roadmap

🗓️ Execution Planning

Accepted Insights and directly-created features live here. Statuses: Under Consideration → Planned → Scheduled → In Progress → Completed (plus Archived). Schedule features with start/end dates, assign teams, and visualize progress in timeline, kanban, or list views.

Objectives

🧭 Strategic Goals (OKRs)

Set the product goals you're steering toward. The AI uses your objectives to score features on strategic alignment and to classify incoming signals. Sits directly below Roadmap in the sidebar. Admin-only.

Tracker

🐛 Stories & Bugs (Optional)

Development execution layer for user stories and bugs. Must be enabled in Product Settings. 7-column kanban: Draft → Ready → In Progress → QA → Done.

The Mind

🧠 AI Intelligence Center

Expandable section with two sub-pages: Knowledge (product knowledge docs the AI learns from) and Channels (feedback sources). Knowledge was previously labeled "Context"; Objectives now lives at the top level, beside Roadmap.

Settings

⚙️ Consolidated Settings Menu

Pinned to the bottom of the sidebar (gear icon). One expandable menu containing Product Settings (areas, tags, teams, user access, public portal — Admin-only), Organization Settings, Users, Billing, and Developer (MCP API tokens, Growth+ plans).

User Account

👤 Account Settings

The user account row at the very bottom of the sidebar (initials avatar + name). Click it to open your Account Settings. Below it sit Logout (or "Exit Demo" in demo mode) and the Collapse/Expand Sidebar toggle.

⚡
Top-Bar Quick Action: "Log signal"

The dark Log signal button at the top-right of every page opens a quick-capture modal — drop in a customer quote, an internal observation, or a one-line bug note without leaving what you're doing. Keyboard shortcut: ⌘+Shift+L (Mac) / Ctrl+Shift+L (Windows). The signal flows straight into the Intelligence Hub Raw Feed and gets processed by the AI on the next pipeline run.

Two Lifecycle Modes

MindBacklog was built to solve the disjointed nature of product management by splitting your workspace into two distinct intelligent lifecycle modes. Depending on your product's maturity, the core workflow adapts:

Pre-Launch

🔍 Concept Mode (Day Zero)

Before you write a line of code, use Concept Mode to mine competitor App Store reviews and web feedback. Ask Mind will generate feature pitches based on identifying competitor vulnerabilities, allowing you to attack market gaps rather than guessing what to build.

Post-Launch

🏃 Active Mode (Live Product)

Once you hit the market, switch to Active Mode to ingest live signals from Slack, Zendesk, and your users via the API. The AI engine shifts focus from exploring vulnerabilities to triaging immediate churn risks, clustering bugs, and executing data-backed roadmap decisions.

The Core Workflow

Whether you're in Concept or Active mode, MindBacklog follows a signal-to-shipped loop:

  1. Listen — Connect channels (e.g., competitors in Concept Mode; native tools like Slack in Active mode).
  2. Decide (Classify & Score) — AI auto-routes the noise, scores features via WSJF, and provides evidence for roadmap decisions based on your current Mode's context.
  3. Build — Ask Mind generates perfectly scoped user stories and PRDs targeting the exact market vulnerabilities or current churn risks discovered.
✅
Best Practice

Start your day on the Dashboard. Check new signals, review the AI Daily Brief, and address the "Needs Your Attention" alerts. Ensure your team understands which Lifecycle Mode your product is currently operating in.

Multi-Product & Multi-Organization

MindBacklog supports multi-product and multi-organization setups:

  • Each organization can have multiple products.
  • Each product has its own isolated context, features, roadmap, and settings.
  • Users can belong to multiple organizations and switch between them using the sidebar switcher.
  • Use the product switcher in the sidebar to navigate between products within an organization.

Role-Based Access

Access is controlled at two levels:

LevelAdminUser / EditorViewer
Organization Full control: billing, users, settings Access products, create/edit content Read-only across organization
Product Full access + manage settings Create & edit features, signals View only, cannot edit
💡
Pro Tip

Organization Viewers can only be assigned Viewer roles at the product level. Give stakeholders Viewer access so they can see your roadmap without accidentally modifying data.
