Quick Feedback ("Log Signal")
Overview
The Log signal button (top-right of every page) opens a modal where you can paste raw text and have MindBacklog process it as if it came from any other channel — no configuration, no waiting for the next sync, no leaving the page you're on. Use it for customer call notes, NPS comments, internal observations, a one-line bug report you just remembered, or a whole batch of Slack thread quotes.
How to Open the Modal
- Click the dark Log signal button in the top bar (left of the Ask Mind toggle).
- Keyboard shortcut:
⌘+Shift+L(Mac) /Ctrl+Shift+L(Windows).
The modal opens from any page in the app — you don't have to navigate to the Intelligence Hub or a channel.
What the Modal Captures
| Field | Required? | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Content | Yes | The actual feedback. Free-form text, supports multi-line and large blocks. |
| Source label | Optional | Free text to describe where the feedback came from. E.g., "Customer call with Acme Corp", "NPS Q2 batch", "Slack thread #product". Stored on the signal for context. |
| Customer / company name | Optional | Attribution — feeds into stakeholder rollups later. |
Batch Dumps
Paste a block that contains multiple distinct feedback items in one go. MindBacklog's pipeline splits the block into individual signals during processing — you don't have to submit them one at a time. This is the fast path for working through NPS exports, customer-call transcripts, or a thread of quotes from a single Slack channel.
Quick Feedback is rate-limited to 30 submissions per minute per user. Plenty of headroom for a PM going through a backlog of call notes; tight enough to stop accidental floods.
What Happens After You Hit Process
The content runs through MindBacklog's standard 4-phase AI pipeline as a Manual channel source type — the same classification, deduplication, and feature-linking logic every other channel uses. When processing finishes (usually within seconds), the modal shows a brief summary like:
"Processed 7 signals: 3 feature requests, 2 bugs, 1 complaint, 1 praise. 4 linked to existing features."
If the pipeline is queued behind other work, you'll see a "scheduled for processing" message instead — your dump is safely captured either way.
Where Your Signals Land
- Intelligence Hub → Raw Feed — each processed signal appears here with source tag "Manual".
- Linked features — if the AI matches a signal to an existing Roadmap feature, it's auto-attached as evidence.
- Themes & Insights — manual signals join the nightly clustering run and can drive new Insights or grow existing themes just like channel-sourced signals.
When to Use This vs. a Channel
- Use Quick Feedback for: one-off notes, ad-hoc captures, batch dumps of text from sources MindBacklog doesn't natively integrate, anything where setting up a dedicated channel is overkill.
- Use a channel for: recurring streams (App Store, web form, Slack, email aliases) where you want continuous ingestion without a human in the loop.
- Strong source labels matter — "NPS Q2 batch" is useful when you're looking at a signal three months later; "stuff from a call" is not.
