Feedback Channels — Connect All Your Sources

Overview

Channels are the integrations that bring customer feedback into MindBacklog. Each channel connects to an external source, automatically pulls new data on a schedule, and sends it to the AI for classification and analysis.

How to get there: The Mind → Channels in the left sidebar.

7 Channel Types

📧 Email Mapping

Forward support emails or customer feedback to a dedicated email address. MindBacklog connects to the inbox and automatically processes each email as a signal.

How to Set Up

Email Channel

When creating an Email channel, you'll configure specific email server details. MindBacklog connects and checks for new emails at your plan's configured frequency. Each email becomes a signal with sender, subject, and body preserved.

⚠️
Custom Domain Email

MindBacklog does not yet support custom user-domain email addresses directly. If you'd like to use a custom email address (e.g., [email protected]), you can set it up on your end and configure forwarding to the email address specified when creating the channel in MindBacklog. The forwarded emails will be processed by AI normally.

💡
Pro Tip

Create a dedicated email like [email protected] on your mail provider and set up a forwarding rule to your MindBacklog channel email. This keeps your main inbox clean while ensuring nothing gets missed.

🔗 REST API

Programmatically push signals from any system — CRM tools, customer success platforms, internal tools, custom scripts.

How to Set Up

REST API Channel

Create the channel and you'll receive an API key. Use this key to send signal data (title, body, source, metadata) from any system. Signals are processed by the AI in real-time.

✅
Power Feature

The REST API channel turns MindBacklog into an intelligence layer API. Feed it data from Intercom, Zendesk, Salesforce, or any tool — and get AI-classified, auto-linked signals back.

📱 App Store Reviews (Apple & Google)

Automatically pull reviews from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

How to Set Up

App Store Channels

Apple App Store: Provide your app's App Store URL. MindBacklog scrapes recent reviews on schedule.
Google Play: Provide your app's Play Store URL. Same mechanism.

💼 Slack Integration

Capture feedback directly from Slack conversations using the slash command (/mb) or message shortcuts.

How to Set Up

Slack Channel

Connect your Slack workspace from Integrations → Native Apps (in the left sidebar, under "The Mind"). Users can type /mb [feedback] in any connected channel to send signals directly to MindBacklog.

📝 Web Form

A simple hosted form where users can submit feedback directly. Embed it on your website or share the link.

How to Set Up

Web Form Channel

Create the channel, customize the form fields, and copy the embed code or direct URL. Submit feedback via the form and it flows directly into your Intelligence Hub.

💬 Feedback Widget

A small embeddable widget that sits in the corner of your web application.

How to Set Up

Widget Channel

Create the channel and copy the JavaScript embed snippet. Paste it into your web application's HTML before the closing </body> tag. Users can click the widget to submit feedback without leaving your app.

🕷️ Web Scraper

Crawl any public web page for content relevant to your product — review sites, forums, community pages.

How to Set Up

Scraper Channel

Provide a URL and configure the crawl depth. MindBacklog can crawl even JavaScript-heavy pages and extract relevant feedback content.

Channel Settings

Each channel has configurable settings:

  • Weight — How much influence signals from this channel have on priority scoring (default: Medium). High-weight channels produce signals with more scoring impact.
  • Sync Frequency — How often the channel polls for new data. Determined by your plan: Starter (monthly), Growth (bi-weekly), Scale (weekly).
  • Status — Active or inactive. Inactive channels stop polling.
⚠️
Signal Credit Costs

Each signal processed by the AI costs 1 AI credit on the Starter plan. Growth and Scale plans include unlimited signal processing. Keep this in mind when connecting high-volume channels on Starter.
