Harvestr centralizes feedback.
MindBacklog compounds it.
Harvestr is a focused feedback management tool — collect, organize, link to features. MindBacklog adds the layer that makes feedback compound: persistent intelligence, Living PRDs, RICE backed by evidence.
Two tools. Two categories.
One question decides which one fits your team — and it isn't about price.
Same multi-channel inbox.
Slack, Email, App Store, Google Play, Public Portal, Feedback Widget, Web Scraper, Web Form, Reddit — plus unlimited via REST API, Zapier, and Make. Harvestr covers the basics here; MindBacklog covers more channels with deeper native integration.
The MIND engine compounds context.
Each signal classified, deduplicated, and sentiment-scored in under a second. The engine links signals to features, features to competitors, sentiment to trends. Harvestr organizes what you tell it; MindBacklog tells you what the data means.
Living PRDs, competitive intel, MCP.
Every requirement cites the signals behind it. RICE scores trace to real volume and sentiment. Competitive Intelligence dashboard surfaces gaps. Ask Mind plus an MCP server brings the intelligence layer into Claude, Cursor, and ChatGPT.
Harvestr centralizes the inbox. MindBacklog compounds the intelligence on top.
Three moments. Two different outcomes.
Same Monday morning. Same product. Different tooling.
"Why is bulk export ranked higher than custom dashboards?"
Harvestr: Open the feature page. Show the 31 linked feedback items and their upvote total. Recite the impact and effort scores you entered manually two months ago. Defend with the vote count.
MindBacklog: Click the bulk export card. The RICE breakdown opens: 47 signals across 4 channels, sentiment trending down 18%, 3 enterprise accounts asked specifically, Competitor X shipped this in May and their reviews improved 0.4 stars. Every claim is a clickable source.
"Write the PRD for advanced filters. Engineering kicks off Friday."
Harvestr: Open a doc. Switch to Harvestr. Click into the feature. Copy a handful of linked feedback items. Paste, attribute, format. Guess at impact from upvote totals. Try to recall what competitors have shipped. Two hours minimum.
MindBacklog: Ask Mind: "Write a Living PRD for advanced filters." Thirty seconds. Cites every signal automatically. Sentiment trends inline. Competitive context built in from public review mining. Engineers click any citation to verify.
"How are you different from Competitor X?"
Harvestr: You promise to send a follow-up. Harvestr does not track competitor signal. The battlecard lives in Notion and was last updated in February.
MindBacklog: Open the Competitive Intelligence dashboard. Competitor X's top user complaints — 32 mentions of slow search, 21 of poor onboarding, 14 of missing API. Sentiment trended down 12% this quarter. You have the answer in 10 seconds.
The capability comparison.

The four reasons that come up most.
Patterns we hear from PMs evaluating the move.
1. "Harvestr centralized feedback but never told us which patterns were getting louder."
The inbox grew. Linked items piled up. But the act of spotting "search complaints are up 40% this month and tied to the same workflow" was still happening in a PM's head — if it happened at all. MindBacklog's Intelligence Hub surfaces signal trending automatically, and the daily intelligence brief lands in inbox every morning with what shifted.
2. "Our PRDs were vote counts in a doc, not evidence."
Harvestr's feature pages list linked feedback — but turning that into a PRD that an engineering team trusts still required manual writing, manual quote selection, manual attribution. Living PRDs pull every classified signal into a citation-rich document in under 30 seconds. Engineers stop asking "did a customer ask for this?" because the answer is in the doc.
3. "We had no real view on what competitors' users were complaining about."
Harvestr does not address competitive intelligence. Teams cobble together quarterly battlecards in Notion or Google Docs that go stale within weeks. MindBacklog's Competitive Intelligence dashboard mines public reviews continuously and surfaces gap matrices, sentiment trends, and signal feeds per competitor automatically — same intelligence layer, different lens.
4. "We were paying $50 per seat for an inbox we still had to think for."
Price is rarely the lead reason teams switch, but it surfaces when value plateaus. When the tool centralizes but does not synthesize, $39-99 per seat becomes a renewal conversation. MindBacklog starts at $14.99, but the actual argument is that intelligence work — synthesis, scoring, artifacts, competitive context — moves into the platform itself instead of staying in PM heads.
What moving over actually looks like.
Honest mechanics from teams that have done the switch.
Step 1 — Connect your existing channels
Slack, Email, App Store, Google Play, your public portal, your feedback widget, Web Scraper, Web Form, Reddit. Most teams complete this in under five minutes. Anything Harvestr was capturing via integration, MindBacklog captures directly — usually with deeper native support and signal-level classification, not just channel-level routing.
Step 2 — Bulk-import historical feedback
Export your Harvestr feedback items as CSV. POST them to the MindBacklog REST API endpoint. The pipeline classifies, deduplicates, and links them against your features automatically — typically restoring 18-36 months of signal history in a single batch. Existing feature linkages can be preserved via the optional feature_id column.
Step 3 — Migrate roadmap items via Jira
If Harvestr was already pushing to Jira, the LIVE bidirectional Jira sync picks features up directly. Otherwise, export Harvestr roadmap items as CSV and import. Status, owner, target dates, and voter counts preserved. The voting data becomes a signal source the MIND engine reads alongside Slack, email, and reviews.
Step 4 — Generate the first Living PRD
Pick any feature with at least 10 imported signals. Ask Mind: "Write a Living PRD." Thirty seconds later you have a citation-rich document drawing on your full historical context — including the Harvestr items you just imported. This is usually the moment teams know the migration was worth it.
Realistic timeline
Solo PMs typically complete the full migration in an afternoon. Multi-PM teams complete it over a week with a half-hour onboarding session. Harvestr contract overlap is fine — most teams run both for one billing cycle while they validate the cut-over. The public portal can be redirected once you are confident.
Honest call: choose them, not us, if…
A comparison page that pretends our tool wins in every scenario is not a credible comparison. There are real situations where Harvestr is the right pick:
- ✓Your only requirement is a clean feedback inbox with feature linking. If you are not trying to generate PRDs, score with evidence, or run competitive intelligence — Harvestr is a focused, well-built tool that does the centralization job without the intelligence layer overhead.
- ✓A public voting portal is your primary use case. Harvestr's public portal and voting flow is polished and battle-tested. If your customer base is heavily portal-driven and you have no need for multi-channel signal compounding, Harvestr fits.
- ✓You explicitly do not want AI-generated artifacts in the loop. Some teams have policies against AI in PM workflow, or simply prefer manual control over every PRD and score. If that is your team, MindBacklog is not the right choice — half of what makes the platform valuable is the AI synthesis.
- ✓Procurement requires Harvestr specifically. Existing contracts, security review constraints, vendor consolidation policies — these are real and not worth fighting. Use the tool that gets bought.
