Public Portal — Feature Voting & Requests
Overview
The Public Portal is a customer-facing page where external users can browse your product's public features, vote on them, and submit feature requests — no login required.
How to Enable the Portal
Go to Product Settings → Portal Tab
Open Settings in the sidebar and choose Product Settings, then navigate to the Portal tab.
Enable & Configure
Turn on the portal toggle, set your portal slug (public URL), customize the title and description, and choose whether voting and feature request submissions are enabled.
Share the URL
Your portal is accessible at: https://yourdomain.com/portal/your-product-slug. Share this link with customers or embed it in your product.
What Visitors See
The portal displays features marked as publicly visible. Each feature shows its title, description excerpt, current status, vote count, and a vote button. Visitors can browse and see what's being built.
Voting
Visitors can vote on features without creating an account. Votes are tracked with anti-spam protections (rate limiting). Vote counts are visible to both the public and your team, and they're reflected in the feature's signal count — influencing AI Priority Scores.
Feature Request Submissions
If enabled, the portal includes a "Submit a Request" form. Submissions include name (optional), email (optional), and request description. Requests arrive as signals in your Intelligence Hub's Raw Feed for AI processing.

Using a Custom Domain
MindBacklog hosts your public portal on our domain at a URL like https://mindbacklog.com/portal/your-product-slug. If you'd like to serve it from your own domain (e.g., feedback.yourcompany.com), you can set up a CNAME record in your DNS provider.
Copy Your Portal URL
Go to Product Settings → Portal and note your portal URL (e.g., mindbacklog.com/portal/your-product-slug).
Create a CNAME Record
In your DNS provider (Cloudflare, Route 53, GoDaddy, etc.), create a CNAME record pointing your chosen subdomain to your MindBacklog portal URL:
feedback.yourcompany.com → CNAME → mindbacklog.com
Share Your Custom URL
Once DNS propagates (usually within a few minutes to 24 hours), visitors can access your portal via your custom subdomain.
We recommend using a subdomain (e.g., feedback.yourcompany.com or portal.yourcompany.com) rather than your root domain. CNAME records work best with subdomains.
The portal creates a direct loop between your customers and your prioritization process. Portal votes feed into signal counts — giving you effortless customer evidence without requiring manual logging.
